The bike lane surface is covered in some kind of a red asphalt covering, which has flaked and broken away making the surface very bumpy and uneven. If the objective is to visually differentiate from the adjacent footpath, then why not just apply a durable paint of some kind? I also encountered a pedestrian kneeling in the middle of the bike lane whilst making a phonecall here. Somewhat odd!
