The cycle lane through Fairview park towards Annesley Bridge ends at a break in the fence and crosses the footpath and onto the road. There is often some congestion here as cyclists who stay on the road side cycle lane are also seeking to merge with traffic. However, this morning I noticed a visually impaired person walking along with their cymbal cane, I stopped to ensure they passed the gap in the fence safely, however, I noticed there were no road marking or other indicators to alert him to the potential danger of cycle traffic emerging from the park. A less considerate or observant cyclist could have collided directly with the visually impaired person.
